  • Learn About WELS

WELS is a group of more than 330,000 men, women, and children in nearly 1,300 congregations across the United States and Canada united by a common faith in Christ’s saving love. We are committed to a common calling—encouraging each other in our faith and sharing God’s gift of a Savior with the rest of the world.

Our Beliefs

As members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) we believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired, error-free Word of God.

The Bible teaches that every human being is born in sin and therefore each of us deserves to die. "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23) and "the wages of sin is death". (Romans 6:23)

Romans 6:23 continues, "but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord". In love, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to save sinners. Because of Jesus' perfect life, innocent death, and glorious resurrection, God has forgiven all of our sins.

The Bible teaches that all who believe that Jesus is their Savior will live forever in heaven.

Motivated by God's love, we are eager to share the Good News of Jesus with our community. Whether you know very little about Jesus or the Bible, or have a life-long relationship with your Savior, you will find a home at Courtland Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Church.

Come and join our family of Christians who are eager to share God's Word in all its truth and purity.

Our Pastor

Serving a vacancy is what brought Dave to Zion and Courtland.  Dave has been called and accepted full time service for our congregations.  We pray continually, that the Lord with bless his work as he serves both congregations to the best of his abilities.
